How Are Projects Evaluated at the Davey Awards?

Each entry is evaluated on its own merits against the standards of excellence established by AIVA; projects do not compete directly against one another. The jury assesses each submission as a whole, using creative, technical and strategic criteria specific to its category.

  1. In the first round, the full AIVA jury evaluates the entries.

  2. The final round is conducted by the Executive Jury.

  3. Each project is scored by multiple jury members on a 10-point scale. The average score determines the award level.

About the Davey Awards

The Davey Awards recognize small teams, boutique agencies and independent creators who bring big ideas to life without relying on large budgets. Awards are presented across a range of disciplines, including websites, design and print, video, marketing and advertising, branded content, social media, podcasts, artificial intelligence, immersive experiences and mobile applications.

The 22nd edition of the competition received thousands of entries from boutique agencies, in-house creative and marketing teams, production companies and independent creators.

Entries are evaluated by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA), a body comprising more than 1,100 industry professionals from organizations such as Burberry, Mastercard, Lyft, Comcast, Dentsu, Work & Co, GLAAD and the National Geographic Society.
